Note: H.42 (Act 1), an act related to authorizing temporary Open Meeting Law procedures in response to COVID-19, was signed by Governor Scott on January 25, 2023 (https://legislature.vermont.gov/Documents/2024/Docs/BILLS/H-0042/H-0042%20As%20Passed%20by%20Both%20House%20and%20Senate%20Official.pdf) and will expire at the conclusion of the biennium in July 2024. Notwithstanding 1 V.S.A. § 312(a), until July 1, 2024:
(1) a quorum or more of the members of a public body may attend a
regular, special, or emergency meeting by electronic or other means without
being physically present at a designated meeting location;
(2) the public body shall not be required to designate a physical meeting
location where the public may attend; and
(3) the members and staff of the public body shall not be required to be
physically present at a designated meeting location.
